What if a detective has to investigate the sudden death of her best friend?
After a scandal ended her legal career twenty years earlier, Iris Larkin is back in her beloved Edinburgh, this time as a rule-bending detective with unfinished business. Clara, Iris’s best friend from university, is now married to the man who was instrumental in ruining Iris’s career. The morning after Iris attends a dinner party at their house, Clara is found dead. While trying to find out what happened to her friend, Iris also has to confront what happened to herself all those years ago, the details of which she has pushed aside for far too long. A TENDER HATE is a double mystery of sorts exploring one woman’s death, and another woman’s uneasy but necessary reckoning with her past.
