LONG NIGHTS ON SLOW TRAINS, new work in progress

What it's about:

Iris Larkin, a Scottish detective, goes for a week to her boss’s cabin on edge of a pond in Maine to recover from a devastating loss. She’s looking forward to swimming alone every day and dozing in the sun on warm rocks, but there’s a catch: for the week, Iris must look after Jack, who is in witness protection. Iris is annoyed, but finds herself drawn to this eerily familiar stranger. A mysterious woman appears on the other side of the pond. Iris must work out whether she is a threat to Jack, and in doing so, uncovers both the secret she has been keeping from herself and who Jack really is.

I’m playing with the same sort of underlying threat feeling as Deborah Levy’s Swimming Home.
